Pond Boss Forums STOCKING A NEW POND Raising Forage and Bait PK Shrimp order

Hey all;

Fired an email off to Dale to inquire when he'll get to seining shrimp this Spring. I am thinking we're probably a couple weeks out yet as ice out just occured throughout Eastern NE about a week ago - absolutely amazing - has to be a record.

Anyhow - many have been pinging me this Winter to post when I might start circling the wagons...and the time approaches. Let me know if you want to get in on an order. Pricing is contingent on qty - if we can get an large enough order we may be able to beat last year's pricing unless he's raised prices for 2010. PM me if you need details and please include your email address so I can provide it to Dale Fattig.

Just off with Dale. He STILL has ponds under ice - says it's the worst winter for him in Brady, NE since he had to miss 6 weeks of school back in the 1940's as he had to walk [uphill both ways?]. Just a little perspective...brutal winters across the US this year.

At any rate, he's seining Gambusia this weekend and is going to report on whether they are netting any shrimp. If not, next week NE should be heating up and the following weekend would likely see the shrimp heading to the shallows and accessible for collection.

Bottom line, we're looking like two weeks out. Please PM me with your email address and I'll do my best to corral everyone for qty. break.

Are we still using this thread for shrimp group orders? If so I'd like to claim a spot.

Contact TJ and see what he's planning for this spring, if he isn't doing a group order, you can always contact Fattig yourself and make a direct order. TJ is just a super nice guy and does group orders to help knock down the price...

We just don't have any interest this year, which is okay with me, I already have more than I know what to do with. If anyone is within driving distance let me know and we can feed the SMB and HSB and net some shrimp for your ride home. My pondweed is ALREADY coming up this year imagine they'll be shallow and available any day now, if not already.

If someone wants to talk about an order let me know...Fattigs would definitely appreciate the business it's been a tough time for them since Dale passed.

I hope people make orders of their own... PK grass shrimp are such an excellent addition to the forage base of nearly any pond's food chain, no matter the goal. Fattig's Fish Farm is a great source for them.

Please send information on to where we can can some, also I guess you just add these each year as they are probably all eaten up.

I will be ordering some but I have to wait for the pond to fill and i wanted to put some spiral eelgrass in before I introduce the shrimp. I would be interested in ordering some in about a month...

What's the typical prices?

Fattig Fish Farm is where we get them... Generally looking at around 25 cents a pop. Order 200 plus shipping for under $100.

IMO be sure you have submerged vegetation established before adding PK shrimp. They will do poorly without vegetation. The finer leafed vegetation is the better the PK shrimp thrive.
