Speaking of cabin security I heard something funny that is related to that. On an ice fishing website I frequent an angler found his shanty occupied when he showed up. Seems it was being used by two horny teenagers and he surprised them.

Is this the HC600 that takes 12 AA batteries?

I've been using the Wild Game IR8x for the past few years. It's one of the only ones that can use a 6v rechargeable battery. I hook up a solar panel and don't have to buy batteries every few months. Like any other, placement of the camera is important. Sun rising and setting into the lens is about the only thing that gives me bad pictures. That or tree limbs blowing too close, etc. Pretty good cameras in my opinion.

Yes it is the hc600. I picked this one for the black flash. I have had friends locate the red glow of other hidden cameras. The reconyx hc600 has no visable flash. I use imedion brand rechargeable AA batteries. I have used the camera since last spring with no problems. I use high capacity sd cards. Camera, lock box, rechargeable batteries, charger and sd cards cost around $750 total. I have spent much more on a box full of low cost trail cameras that no longer work. I am saving up for another reconyx.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a Cuddie that works well, and a couple of other brands that I'm not that happy with. One or 2 years and they gave up, slow trigger time. The only complaint of the particular cuddie that I have is shorter battery life than I'm used to, but I like the fast shutter time.

I finally got to my place this weekend after 6 weeks of stuck in town. One of my cameras had been stolen. It was my 10 or so year old cuddeback. That's when they made a really good camera.

Man, Dave I hate that for you. Could you get a camera and put a GPS tracking stick inside of the camera somehow? Sounds like kids to me.

I suspect that it was a trespasser that went to the deer feeder and realized that their picture had been taken. Rather than just taking the card, they took the whole cam.

By the tracks, he/she/it wore about a size 8 work or hunting boot and came off a neighbors place. In no way do I suspect that neighbor.

One time, when we were dealing with a bad neighbor, I set up a old, unreliable flash trail camera in a fairly visible spot and then a new well concealed infrared unit focused on that one. Thought might catch guy on video stealing first camera and get him for both trespassing and theft; but never caught him on either. Apparently, one of the short periods during which he behaved himself.
