Recently I started helping a friend with there pond it was completely choked out by lily pads. It was completely covered and just recently they have all been removed but I have been looking at it more closely and there is still a lot of growth in the water itself there are spots in the water that are supposedly 12feet deep but have vegetation all the way up to the top of the water. I would say 60-70% of the pond is like this I'm sure it was like this before but the Lilly's were hiding it. I went fishing today I saw plenty of bluegill I haven't caught any because I wasn't really fishing for them but there seemed to be a decent amount, but I can't say about size. I did catch a bass that was small 10" no belly at all and extremely red gills and the lips and throat we're the same way I've been told that the redness is due to stress? Either way I would like to know what to do as far as controlling the vegetation I know getting rid of it completely is prob not the best thing to do. This pond needs some work but with time I know this pond could be as nice any.
