I would make no appologies for playing the odds. Clearly most folks are good, including those living in trailer parks, but crime from those with fewer possessions and income is greater than those with more. It may be politically incorrect to profile, but it is quite effective. The goal should be not to put everyone in the same basket, but learning from experience keeps us safe. Prejudice often develops based on real trends, but that does not give one the right to take negative action without evidence that an individual is guilty of something. Once bitten, twice shy.

In our case is was a home made trailer house. My Dad welded up a frame for the running gear. My grandfather an two uncles built the house on top of the running gear.

I am actually going to buy a couple of IR trail cameras for my land during deer season so this may be a swift kick in the butt to get them a little sooner. Any recommendations for good trail cams? And do you think I should just do motion activated or a picture every 10-15 min?

I have a Cuddeback Capture game camera and I use it as a trespasser notification device as I'm not a deer hunter. I am not an experienced game camera owner - many folks here can guide you with expert advice - I'm just saying I like the simplicity of operation and I have no complaints thus far. There are several settings to customize frequency of photos taken but I'm sure this is probably a standard feature on all game cameras. I've noticed a few friends fishing my ponds without letting me know - I like the peace of mind it brings. I know there are video cameras that work the same way, take photos every 5 or 10 seconds and 32G memory card lasts over a month. This might be a better purchase for you. Again, I'm a total novice on this front there are many who can chime in. You'd be best served by making a new post.

I don't know of any that will take a picture every 5-10 seconds that operate after sundown. The black IR cameras are the way to go - no red glow from the IR at night. If you can swing it, the ones that send the pictures to your computer are the best. If the camera gets stolen, you still have the pictures. Although I don't know how quickly they send a picture once it's been taken.

Hiding them in birdhouses, etc., is the best.

Unfortunately, they have to be close. I'd say 30' is about max range to get a picture, 20' or less to get a really clear picture, especially at night. The pictures get grainier at night.

My Cuddeback takes great pictures but you can see the IR flash at night. I had a cheap trailcam that kept draining batteries and malfunctioning. No problems with the Cuddeback so far. Got some good yote pictures last weekend and spotted a couple during the middle of the day. It must be breeding season. Nothing says keep out like a target with the center shot out. Being a bit unstable helps as well.

I have 3 Cudde's. Only the old one is really any good.

Dave, for a period of a few years (2009-2010 or so) they had problems. Maybe they grew too fast, but Cuddie now has those problems fixed.

The "black" IR cameras don't show visible IR light to the human eye. Mine is the red IR, and I can see it glow at night.

Cuddie, Reconyx and Buckeye cameras have great trigger speed. Even 1 second trigger time is too slow in my book.

I'd like for them to take pictures closer together than 30 seconds too.... Or have a movie mode that shows date and time.

For the most part, the cost equates to quality. I sure wish I could afford a Roconyx let alone enough to properly scout the properties I hunt. I've been using cheap $70 Wildgame Innovation IR cameras. They are very small, take pictures reliably, have good battery life and if they get stolen I don't cry too much as they are only $70. Trigger speed isn't too bad either... People generally walk slow enough to catch them.

I've trashed Moultries, Wildgame and various others. My ancient Cudde still works well but is complicated to set the time, date etc. No memory when the batteries are changed. My 2 Cudde's that I've bought in the last couple of years take a lot of false pics and no pics. The IR one now takes pics at night but they are black. I put both of them on the same feeder and found that they disagreed. Eyes are reflected on the IR one but that's all. Customer service is poor; it's my problem so I won't buy another one even if they have fixed their problems.

I still have a Wildgame. On a night walk test I found that it caught me a 7 ft. Junk! Wildgame is good at replacing defective ones and I'm now up to # 4. I've given up on them.

Last year I bought a Primos 46 and got 3 pics in one week at a corn feeder. So I pulled it, tossed it into the basket of my 4 wheeler and headed to the house. It took pics of the sky at every bump and worked perfectly at the house.

Academy has a good return policy and, in the future, I'll buy from them and start testing right away. If they are OK, I'll keep them. If not they'll go back immediately.

My feeling is that you have about a 50/50 chance of getting a good one in any brand.

Like Travis, I wish I could afford a Reconyx.

He certainly doesn't like the new Cuddes.

I've had some trouble with the Moultrie deer feeders, but their cameras seem to work well. I should upgrade, however, to a higher pixel model. That way I getter pictures of the inside of my workshop. User error, no doubt.

The micro SD cards are cheap, I have a key chain camera similar to this that I fly on some of my RC aircraft, it takes decent video but it doesn't have motion activation.

I just ordered this camera to set up at my cabin and operate when I'm not there, it should be easy to conceal and keep out of the weather, I'll let ya'll know how it works after a couple of weeks in the cold weather.

That's why I like that place. They give an unbiased review. If it's crap, then they say it's crap. If it's good, but "X" could need work, then that's what they say.

At one time Cudde had the only really dependable camera. They have now pretty well besmirched their reputation. That's a shame. Others have improved and they have taken a step way back. Again, what a shame.

I have used several cameras for cabin security. Reconyx has been the only camera to be reliable. I check it about once a month. This last month we were working on projects at the cabin. The reconyx 600 took 7500 pictures with no false triggers. The batteries were just under 50%. The reconyx is a great camera and good investment in cabin security. Only complaint is sorting through all the pictures.
