The place was like a tourist site late last week with people coming out to see this mess.
What we think happened is that they pushed what they thought was clay dirt (I know...how can a bulldozer operator NOT know the difference between sand and clay)from one side (where a hill tapered into what would be the lake basin) across the dry lake bed. This was not a very long push, and I can only speculate that they got all the sand from there.
The contractor sent another bulldozer down Saturday morning, plus a sheep's foot roller. One of his operators said he is sending two dump trucks down Monday morning. We already have a huge track hoe and a big John Deere with a 17 yard dirt pan.
From what I can gather from the phone conversations they mention between the operators and the contractor, and from the notion that he is sending all this other equipment down in the morning, I can only assume he is taking this seriously and is going to fix it as his own cost.
They say they can re-build it in about three days. It's supposed to rain some this coming week, but if we have some fortunate breaks in the weather maybe they will finish it. I'll keep everyone here posted.
