I wish to put in a boat lift under a covered dock. My boat is a plain vanilla 16 ft. aluminum boat weighing about 300 lbs. empty. A vendor suggested a jet ski lift with either manual or electrical power. I probably need to put in a sturdy stainless ladder as well. Water fluctuates up to 5-6 ft. (sigh).

Questions: Is that the ticket? Would the cradle have to be lenghthened and how is that done? Anything I missed? Is this a DIY or bring in a pro? Concerns?

Sniper with your water fluctuations maybe one of these floating lifts would work for you, we have alot of them around here and their not as expensive as the hoist types.

AP: I'll give that a look. However, one of my goals is to get out of the baling rainwater bidness. I want to get the boat as far up under the cover piece of the dock as possible.

What a difference a couple of rains make! First we have an epic drought, and now I am whining about getting water out of the boat. Go figure.

Gotta go see if those overflow pipes are open or clogged.
