I guess my point is, while it may be a no-brainer for you, or me (honestly i agree with you, and don't mind figiting with a site on my droid...)...is it like that for everyone?

My fiance works for a 75 year old botanist, and although he is much more computer-literate than one would have expected for someone who spent their career in the field and not behind a computer, he has trouble navigating a lot of sites even with a mouse, keyboard and one of those giant screen-magnifier thingies. For him, or someone who fat-fingers their posts on their smartphone so that every one has an "edited by skinnybass" moniker right above their signature, a user-friendly ap might be a much better solution than simply mobile-optimization.
