Just wanted to update everyone, the pond is about 1/2 inch from full and I think it is going to be perfect without raising it. I would like to raise it but I have downspout and foundation drains that are at water level right now. So now its time to start thinking of what i can put on the banks that are exposed. I am thinking rock or broke up concrete.

Rock would look better than broken concrete. If you put down a geotextile fabric before placing the rock, it will help prevent the rock from sinking into the banks, and also help keep weeds from growing up between the rocks. If the rocks are partially submerged, they will provide habitat for invertebrates (i.e crayfish).

I don't know if a rock slinger truck is in your area, but if so, that'd be a quick way to do it if they can get to your pond.

Yea we have the slingers around here but cant get them close enough, I was thinking bigger rock though. Like field stone softball size or a little bigger. I just thought the broken concrete would look more like the big rip rap. I am going to do some searching for some pictures of various rocks/stone and go from there unless someone has any other ideas or pictures. thanks again

Thanks. well I would like to have the pond for swimming and fishing so as long as the fish are swimmer compliant. Lol I really haven't decided or researched the best options yet. Its about 3/4 acre and maybe ten feet max depth.

Well, just about any freshwater species could be swimmer compliant... None attack people like sharks! HAHA Now, some will nibble at you, such as BG. So that turns some people off. Some can cause issues from their spines like CC, but that's pretty unusual. I've swam in a number of ponds some of which are chock full of catfish and never had an issue. Would that be something you'd like to avoid?

I wouldnt mind a fish nibble but my wife and any other women or kids it would probably freak them out. I have looked on line at local fish places and they have whats called a swimming package for fish. I currently dont have anything in it. still wanting a dock, i was wanting to get post set before the water came up but the ohio weather hadnt cooperated with me being so wet for the past months.

Hey, that is good stuff, and gives me a great idea on leftover pavers from a downsized sidewalk project! Always a fan of recycling crap that has been kicking around for 8 years with no use apart from standing up bee hives.

I've seen stuff like that marketed for grassy driveways. It wouldn't develope ruts and the grass would still grow in the tire tracks.
