While you can argue about the different forms of motor racing. It seems pointless to me since I like all of motor racing. Hot motor, goes fast, I'm in! ![smile smile](/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif)

Just got off the phone and several text message reply's later. We are "ON" for US131 this season! Nothing fancy or super HOT, just a fun time! The most enjoyable headache I ever had at 2AM came from High Octane Exhaust, Spewed out by Die Hard Locals giving it their all! That is Drag Racing for sure!!! Couch Potato, or, Participant! ???

I live 5 miles as the crow flies from an 1/8 mile "outlaw" drag strip... it's strictly "run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough"
The quality of cars that show up is astounding. Guys are running in the 4's in the upper classes....
When I was younger I used to bracket race a Camaro, came home many early mornings with my clothes reeking of burnt rubber, and my eardrums vibrating from the combination of a rev limiter, (stutter box) and open headers.
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

sniper, I wonder if he ever made a pass with the nitrous on?
The sign in front of the car is tipped over and I can't read it. That is a mirror so you can see the underside of the car. "Your mileage may vary." Because of the economy, this is a good time to buy a hotrod.

Martin, MI is a bit over an hour drive from me. I have only been there once since the 14M renovation in 2002. Really nice place. Ditto on the quality of cars at the local tracks. I haven't been there in 10 years, but some of the cars were truly works of art, with built in whoop ***! Nothing sounds better than a well tuned, free breathing Big Block! A little snort or two out of the dragons nostrils don't hurt either ![laugh laugh](/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif) Wish I had a rev limiter after a tranny malfunction on my 74 Cuda. Brand new motor (two weeks old) with broken pieces and parts. That was eeekspensive I remember the lack of hearing for the next day also. Sure was Fun! Hot Rod Hangover

Any predictions for NHRA 2012 Season?
I am going with Jeg in Pro Stock. New car, new engine program, not fully developed, and still made it into the finals.
Technology change after the season start with the new Camaros may prove to be a deficit for GA. Pontiac's seem to hook up a bit better. All are pretty much equal in the HP range! It sure will be a battle this year!
No predictions on Diggers or Floppie's yet. Although, I have my favorites!

Dave Connolly is the best pro stock driver in my opinion. He just needs a shot with a legit team with a decent engine program.

Yeah, I didn't think drafting was a common event in Funny Car.....
Did I hear 288 mph in the 1/8 mile?
Massey went 328 and change in the semi finals, and they're only running 1,000 feet due to the speeds they were running in the 1/4 mile. They made that change in 2008 for Top Fuel and Funny Car.
For you who get the Speed Channel, IIRC the new season of Pass Time starts Feb 29th. My buddy's BMW M3 will be running the last pass of the 2nd show of the new season. He said he thought the run would be interesting when his shoes didn't stick to the track. He said he skated the whole way down the track even tho he tried to heat the tires as much as he could.

Yep! It was 288 at the 8th mile.
I did not know about the 1000 ft change.
I should get the speed channel. I still really do not know how many channels I have with Charter. They bumped my internet speed up again for free. Now I am averaging 32 MB/s. 20 bucks a month.

Really? The NHRA cut the race distance for its Top Fuel and Funny Car classes to 1000 feet--320 feet short of a quarter-mile--as a safety measure in the wake of the death of racer Scott Kalitta in 2008. Shortening the race distance was meant to give the Funny Car and Top Fuel dragsters more runoff room after the finish line. Kalitta died on June 21 in Englishtown, New Jersey, when his Funny Car engine exploded during a qualifying run. Kalitta's car ran off the end of the track and through a sand pit and crashed into a wall. The car's parachutes did not deploy. Kalitta was 46. NHRA said, "With the change, fans will still be able to enjoy the sights, sounds and thrill of NHRA nitro racing with speeds around 300 mph and quick elapsed times to 1000 feet,". Now, they are back around 330 but in a 1000 feet.

Internet access was worse than dismal. Not a chance in He** I could open up the NHRA site on the only available POS I had.
