I have a new pond stocked last October with 1.5" bluegill/readear mix, and 3" channel cats. My water temp is now around 60 degrees. I was wondering:

1. When to start feeding? ( I think start now and start slowly).

2. What size/type feed to use? (I currently have .25 inch floating feed @ 32% protein content.

3. Any 'tricks' to getting the fish to "find the feed"?

4. Are there any guidelines as far as where to place a feeder on a pond?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but here's what I've read on this site:

1) Yes, start feeding when water temps reach 60 deg and start slowly.

2)Not positive on the size but .25 sounds correct.

3)The trick is in always feeding at the same time in the same place.

4)I think the best place for a feeder is @ the end of a pier or anywhere there is deep water to discourage fish eating birds.

The fish may be too small to eat feed even in your warm climate. It might take another month or so so don't get discouraged. I agree with Ric but I think a point or pier is good for another reason. It puts the food out so that wind can then move it around so more fish can utilize. The back of a cove is NOT the place for feeder placement.
