anybody know who the local contact is down here? i kind of wanted to go at it alone but i want a second opinion to make sure my pond is deep enough and has enough watershed. any cons to using nrcs? don't they provide help for free? TIA

Books available on this site and your county agent can provide you with all the information you need.
You are wise to gather information in order to get it right initially.

a-ron. If you go to the USDA website, I think you can find the local office. They have one in every county of every state.
As for providing help, it all depends on the person in the office. Some are great, some can't find their azz with both hands. If your county has one of the great ones, that is good. They aren't supposed to give any help except to the people that live in the county that their office is based in.
