The tiger trout I stocked last year are growing well considering that the pond was ice covered more than 5 months, the majority were 6 to 7 inches and the rest 4 inches. I fished for 15 minutes yesterday and got these 3. A 12 inch male.  A 12 inch female.  A 16 1/2 inch well fed female.  As usual the color and markings vary quit a bit.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I can't believe the looks of the large one in the bottom pic...If I didn't know any better and just made a very quick glance at it...I would have thought it was a Splake! The ones we used to catch in Georgian bay looked just like that (silver and nice and plump) only with spots instead of stripes.

fishing w/ the old school bobber? and a worm or salmon egg? how do you normally fish for them?

I can't believe the looks of the large one in the bottom pic...If I didn't know any better and just made a very quick glance at it...I would have thought it was a Splake! The ones we used to catch in Georgian bay looked just like that (silver and nice and plump) only with spots instead of stripes. The large female had very dark markings on the top but faded quickly on the sides, I'm always surprised at the difference in color and patterns in tigers.

Dave I use a #6 long shank hook with the barb crushed and a few red beads and silver blade, with a big piece of night crawler. The bobber is usually about 3 ft above the hook. I've tried different color blades but the silver always seems to give the most action.

Right now I'm just focused on getting the tigers and BRKT to make it thru another winter, the new 2" siphon pipe is fully insulated now and hopefully supply 50 gpm right thru the winter. I'll still be pumping water from the stream to the pond like last winter which should add another 15 gpm. One thing I would like to add is maybe a dozen adult SMB, and see how they do.
