Now you're getting it! grin I saw DO levels increase when the thick snow melted due to water coming up thru the ice, which allowed more sunlight to penetrate thru the snow cover on the pond. I think sunlight getting thru the ice to the photoplankton adds more DO to the pond during the winter than the interaction between the open water and the air.
