Does anyone know what hatchery supplied Richmond Mill Lake with their CNBG? I know Mr.Lusk stocked them, But Id like to Diversify My CNBG Genetics and order Some from that Supplier if possible.

I'm not sure of the CNBG source, but Todd Overton of Overton's is an outstanding producer of some really large growing coppernose!

Here they are. I don't think they are from Todd.

Even though I know better, the first thought that pops into my head is "Wow, they look so ordinary"...

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

A very large part of it is feed (and natural food) and water quality (low stress). Only then can genetics make a big difference.

We bought coppernose bluegill to stock Richmond Mill Lake from three sources in Arkansas and one in Alabama. The only caution I can make is that some of the coppernose available in today's market are crossbred with local bluegills. That doesn't mean they won't grow to giant sizes. True, pure coppernose bluegill have vivid copper-colored fins and tail. The male will have a copper-colored bar across his face, bordered by lavendar colored bars on each side of that...during spawning seasons. There are several hatcheries in Texas that sell them.

So could the crossbred ones be more suceptible to cooler water..

Not sure...I've seen coppernose die in southern Oklahoma. I was convinced, at first, that they died because it got too cold. Now, I think it was more a function of how quickly it got cold rather than how cold it got.

I don't know how susceptible the crosses are. Richmond Mill's climate is similar to ours in North Texas.

I got some coppernose for Dunn's but since we have -31 degrees this winter not sure if they made it.

Of course I still have all the GSF I want. (or don't want)

LOL
