Five years ago today I joined Pond Boss.

Hard to believe but it's true. So very many things have happened in those five years both good and bad.

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of my friends here at Pond Boss. You've held me up through difficult times...the loss of my father, my wife's father, the wildfires that nearly consumed my parent's home, JWHAP's car accident and the resultant surgery...and you've been with me during fun times...two Pond Boss conferences that I attended and so many fun and informative threads.

Here is the hello that started it all.

I'm not posting as much as I use to (probably to the betterment of the forum). With all of the things going on in the world today I'm finding humor harder to come by.

Thanks for being there and allowing me to have some fun and blow off some steam. Five years seem to have gone by so very fast.

Your posts are getting better, if not more frequent. At least you are spelling "Dam" now as "Dam", not "damn" as in your first post. You probably picked up the "Damn" spelling from your late night reading.

Congratulations friend, freak, dork ... whatever. I don't remember that far back, but maybe it was because of you that I was drawn out of the shadowy depths of lurkdom to become a participating PB member -- just a few days after you did the same! However -- at the time I didn't know about the raincoat and neoprene accessory.

In any case, I'm sure glad you joined, otherwise I might never have met anybody quite like you.

It has been a quick 5 years big guy. Good to see Theo post again. He may have posted on another thread and gotten all the "where you beens" and "welcome backs" etc,
but I missed it.

You're a top notch forum member who does a great job of keeping things from getting too serious. But mental images of you in that neoprene cod suit are keeping me awake at night!

Thank you all (or at least most of you) for the kind words.

I shall try to return to a higher level of humor. In order to facilitate this I shall stop watching the news. [TEMPORARY RANT = ON] The news seems to be filled with either (a) doom and gloom or [b] celebrity melt downs (couldn't care less) or [c] which cities are the worst dressed (also couldn't care less) [TEMPORARY RANT = OFF]. So I have decided to stop watching the news and watch Three Stooges reruns and put Monty Python and the Holy Grail on a continuous feed loop. That in addition to listening to Weird Al songs should restore me to my previous humor levels.

Plus I need to get back up to my pond property. It's been almost three months and I have a bad feeling things are going on up there that I won't like. The Gams are whispering amongst themselves plotting some horrible form revenge. Elodea and American Pond weed are creeping ever so silently and maliciously across the pond. And trespassers, more and more trespassers (during our trip in May the game cameras caught 2 different bunches of people fishing at the pond and trying to mess with my Alum Boat).

So I have decided to become a super hero. I have contracted with a local seamstress to create a bedazzled Brazilian Cut Neoprene Cod Piece along with a matching cape and sandals (let's see how you sleep now Sunil and CJ). I shall fight for truth (at least my version of truth), justice and the pond meister way.

Now I only need to work on a name.....hmmm Captain Freaky Geek, The Green Sunfish Guardian, Neoprene Jhap Round Pants..well it's a work in progress.
