What would you call these brown lines loaded with bubbles on the edge of my pond its only on the side where the wind is blowing to. It almost looks like brown shampoo sitting on top of the water.

Pond is recently dredged in 2010, 1/2 acre 10+ ft deep, with 2 vertex airators placed at 8' and 4'.

Here is my opinion. Your water in warmest in mid-summer. Warm water results in a higher water surface tension that tends to keep more light particles at the surface until stronger waves or rain disrupts the surface tenison and particles become suspended or sink. Some of this can result from air borne air pollution. Ponds have a lot of surface area to collect 'dirt' from air. Dredging can release a lot of entrapped particles and chemials especally proteins and 'grunge' from the sediments. Aeration bubbling will cause proteins in water to form bubbles at the surface while also bringing some suspended particles to the surface. High surface tension tends to 'hold' the bubbles s in the film. I would say what you are seeing is mostly particles, dissovled chemicals, dirt and possibly some 'biologicals' entrapped in the water's surface tension. Spray it with a shower or stream from a hose and it will likely sink to seem to dissappear. Although it is not really gone just suspended in the water under the surface.

Have the same thing in my pond. Really shows up when the kids go swimming, or if I redig the pond. At first I thought it was oil or some other petroleum product in the ground. Spent several hundred dollars on booms to collect and soak up the stuff. But to my surprise, it did not soak up any of it, it did contain it and allow me and my boy to scoop it out with buckets. When it rains it dissipates and only part of it shows back up. Eventually the stuff in my pond goes away until someone distubs it and it rises to the surface again, seems a lot worse in the summer.
