The pond was drained and renovated last year so we scooped up all the fish we could, moved them to a smaller pond then restocked all we could when the big pond was filling. So there are potentially 5 different year classes.

Last fall I stocked 400 BG fry and 2000 FHM. This spring I stocked another 300 3-4" BG, 200 FHM and 100 crayfish. The BG have a hard time with all those marauding LMB getting traction I think. Most of the pond is pretty deep so the spawning areas where the LMB can't get to are limited.

Here's a question. Will BG spawn in deeper? Say 3 feet or more or do they stay shallow when spawning?

They can spawn in deeper water, I believe I've seen documentation down to 20'.

That's good to know. maybe the population is larger than what I assume. As clear as it is I should get out the snorle and mask and check it out that way.

Mark so your Wr is about 88-90% pretty good. However see how many bass you had 11-12 inches. That indicates to me a stacking of a couple of years classes at that size. I would keep culling more that size if you want to grow bigger bass.

Greg, I can really see alot of LMB in that size. I like to wait a couple weeks after I cull so I don't overdue it and mess up. I think someone advised me once( maybe you) that it would be very hard to hurt a pond by culling LMB in that size class. I want large bass and large BG which is pretty hard to achieve naturally from what I gather.

Mark not trying to be pushy but might be messing up by not pulling more- get my point? Just dont be so cautious you end up falling short on goals of bass improvements, good work.
