after filleting some catfish last night we were thinkin about putting the heads in the pond. will this mess anything up or will the other fish just eat them?

This has been discussed on this forum before, the general concensus is that it is not the best idea. Just adding nutrients and waste to the environment. It was also pointed out that if you do any swimming or wading you might not like stepping on fish parts, some of which rot slowly and some, such as with catfish, that are sharp.

I have found the best use for fish parts are food for tomato plants. Just dig a hole next to the plant and bury. Then move onto the next plant. You don't need to get very close to the plant - 12 inches is fine.
What if the hokie-pokie is what it's all about?

My grandmother had me bring 1 carp home for every tomato plant that she was going to plant. They got a proper burial.
