i saw a show where a guy was fishing for gar using what basicaly looked like "nest" of fiber.. no hook.. the gar's teeth get tangled up in the fibers
might have been jeremy wade (river monsters) Bear Grylls I believe. Are you sure it was a gar though? I thought it was another toothy fish.
