Pond Boss Forums MANAGING AN EXISTING POND Corrective stocking Bass and Shiners additions

Here at Tony Stewarts Hidden Hollow Ranch we are excited about our Fish delivery next monday 4/23/07. We are scheduled to get 40 more bass that average 5.5 lbs and 500 lbs of shiners with eggs. These bass are feeder trained and we are excited and ready to see our new addition. The bossman will probably miss this day due to having to do a commercial in Los Angeles that same day. He loves to be home on fish deliveries. I will let you all know how this turns out and thanks Bob Lusk for making this happen.

I could never get my bass to eat pellets, I wonder if I added some feed trained bass to the pond if the other bass would start eating pellets?

Check with Bob Lusk and see what he has to say about that. All of our fish was feeder trained and eat like crazy when the feeder goes off. Its alot of fun to sit and watch the clock and witness them feeding.

Jody what can you tell us about the fish. From where , age , what type of feed , Fla/Nort/ F-1?

I've got 6 plus pound bass in my pond but, they don't eat pellets and are hook shy..Just curious about adding feed traind bass to get them to start eating..

see Pellet trained bass with regular bass. Only thread I can remember recently discussing this.

If you add 8in feed trained LMB they may well become food for your 6 lb LMB. If you add large feed trained LMB you may well cause competition between the large LMB helping with the aggression question. I assure you that the LMB are eating you just can't catch them. The catchability matter has been discussed at length. If you want I can find those threads.

Bob stated at both the DFW and Atlanta meetings that as a general principal adding competition between LMB could have a beneficial effect on aggressiveness and improve catchability. It can also present a population imbalance problem in the pond. Here is a pic of feed trained LMB.

I think you are right ewest. Bob Lusk is the man putting these together for us and I think he showed me the picture. But the Bass we have now are looking real good and eating great. We are very pleased with the bass that Bob got for us last summer. Lots of thanks goes out to Bob and Johnny Morris[bass pro shops] for getting us were we are today with our Indiana Bass progam.
