Here in Latvia we use such kind of fishing traps (the best pic I could find):

Use your imagination and make a
mirror copy of it to the left too. So, how it works:
fish reaches that
fence(in the left side of picture) and it has to choose a direction - to the left or right since it's impossible to move forward. Anyway it gets into a trap through a funnel type entrance. It's really easy to get in but it's very hard to get out. Usually 2 (or even 3) funnels are used to reduce chance of fish getting out.
The
tail is tied up. When you want to get your fish, simply untie it and collect live fish.
