Well I've been told on this forum and by other people, to cull bass under 1 pound - we just have too many bass. It's tough throwing them out, so we did a little taste test to see if at least we could cull them right into the frying pan. I've caught many bass over the years and have never eaten one! After the taste test, we voted and the bass won by a long shot. I'm not going to feel so bad culling them out now. Hello fish tacos!

I've done exactly the same thing...with different results! My wife's preference was 1) bluegill 2)crappie 3)bass. In any case they are worth frying up and eating!

We too love bass from our pond. When filleted, skinned, and cut up and fried like you show them in your picture, we can't tell them apart from bluegill. Absolutely delicious.
We love the catfish too. We mostly take ours when they are 3-7 lbs., so they are much thicker fillets than we get from the small bass and the big bluegill. That gives them a different texture -- but still delicious.
We really aren't supposed to have tilapia in WV ponds (legal no-man's land), and we don't buy store-bought fish -- so no experience there.
Keep on culling.
