Hello,
I'm planning the aeration system for my new pond, and I have a question about the location of the manifold. I will have my compressor located at my barn, which is 170 ft from the edge of my pond. The first diffusers will be located 100 feet from the edge of the pond, and the second diffusers will be located 200 feet from the edge of the pond. My plan is to run a single 5/8" buried line from the pump to a manifold at the edge of the pond. I'll split into 2 different 3/8" self weighted lines from there. My question: Is this setup ok, specifically locating the manifold 170 ft from the pump? Thanks much -- long time lurker...

Here's a few pics of my pond under construction:

Coach, will the diffusers be in different water depths? Reason for asking is that the diffuser that has a longer run will have more resistance in the line, which will direct more air to the closer diffuser. You could bump up the line diameter on the longer run, or fine tune it with ball valves on each diffuser, cutting off some of the flow to the closer diffuser to "balance" the the backpressure in both lines.

I think you'll be fine with the manifold at the pond. A fellow PondMeister has a manifold close to 800' away from his windmill.

Thanks for the reply -- yes, the closer diffuser station will be @ about 8', the further diffuser will be @ about 13'. So maybe run 3/8" to the shorter(and shallow) run and 5/8" to the longer(deeper) run? I hadn't even thought about that issue! Thanks!

Coach, that's what I'd do and you might still have to play with the valves a bit if you want to run them both at the same time, but not near as much as if you were to run both with 3/8" lines.
