The Ram Pump is a really good idea, I just don't think it would put out enough water. Especially if loss is really 6-7 GPM per acre. Pollywog, when full, is about 5 acres, so I'm losing 30 to 35 gpm to evaporation? Ouch. I guess it could slow down the problem, and maybe help me through a drought. That's a good Idea.
Big Frog is between 10 and 12 acres I believe. To pump water I'd have to climb around 20 feet I guess, so it wouldn't be a real easy trip for the water.
Combining the two tanks is something I don't think I could ever do. The man who put these ponds in, Doc Potts, really did his homework before he built these. The place was like a child of his. He could have combined the tanks to begin with, and didn't, so I'm assuming he had a good reason. Big Frog is such a solid pond, staying full year in and year out. It's really deep, vegetation is different, and it produces fish that just look completely different, healthier, than Pollywog's fish looked. They're just so different, it's hard to believe the two tanks are 100 feet apart.
