Jason,

From the photos, I have no idea of what this might be. Photo 5 leads me to believe they are some kind of leaves. But photo 1 and 4 have me completely stumped.

Can you provide a little more info -- like what kind of texture do they have. How long have they been there? Could you get a photo of this stuff in your hand, or maybe on a paper plate so we can get a better idea of what it really looks like?

Regards,
Ken

Jason - not to be critical, but your photos are sorely lacking smile
The first two images are somewhat blurred and too far away to be of any benefit; and the last blurred image shows what appears to be partially dessicated leaves that are detached from the main stem.
Leaves always provide a clue to a plant's identity. But, HOW the leaves attach to the stem also prove valuable in many instances.
Based on these pictures, my best guess is one of the many species of water primrose - except they normally grow in shoreline areas.

Not a plant expert but all the water-shield/ dollar bonnet I have seen has one leaf per long stem. Look at the link and see what you think check "other photos" on the link also.

i agree ..especially since the plant is green and red...it says glyphosate will control it...i have some of that , think i could just spray it on?....thanks everybody...each leaf is about the size of a quarter or a little larger

Jason - that's a much better picture that you linked above. It is definitely primrose (Ludwigia spp).

Here's a photo of a healthier specimen.

Watershield differs considerably in appearance from primrose (below).

Glyphosate isn't the best product for primrose, but will do a fair job. But, be cautioned that only aquatic-labeled formulations of glyphosate (usually containing 53.8% active-ingredient) should be applied to ponds & lakes, in combination with an aquatic surfactant.
The tallow-amine surfactants contained within many terrestrial-labeled glyphosate formulations (usually those containing 41% active-ingredient) are not intended nor desirable for direct application to aquatic sites.
