I stayed overnight at the cabin and decided to try putting a fish trap in the pond by the water inlet even though the pond is still frozen.
In the last 3 years since stocking trout they have never survived the winter, well maybe I've broken that curse.
Here's a 9 inch brookie I got in the trap this morning, when I go up next week I'll put in 2 traps hoping to snag some tiger trout too.

The pond is still mostly froze, the stream pump must have kept the O2 level enough for the trout, I have the 2 inch siphon pipe working now also, total of 72gpm.

Congrats AP! I am so happy you seem to have finally held your trout over... If the brookie made it, I would have to believe any of the other species would have as well.

God they're ugly compared to brook trout! smirk

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Man that is awesome!!
I can't believe you still have ice..... I'm going to stop complaining about my local weather now.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Congrats AP, I am so happy you finally got some trout to make it through a winter... And this was no easy winter either, so if they made it through this one I think you're set... That tiger looks quite healthy too.

Thanks CJ, I plan on putting a bigger stream pump in this fall and a 2 inch siphon feed from above the waterfall along the ground and try to insulate it as much as possible but it's tough with all the rocks and thin soil.
Hey if you ever get up this way try fish'in for tigers, you could send it to Cecil for mounting. laugh
