Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations buying triploid grass carp this weekend

Headed up to Keo Fish farms to buy 25 triploid grass carp this saturday. Hopefully my bladderwort problems will be solved at last. I figure I might not see a big difference this year but I hope by next summer I can tell a difference. Next year I'll try to do a whitecap treatment...one thing at a time....$$$

Good luck Eric! We can't pick them up here in Indiana. They have to be delivered. Makes them very expensive.

Are you sure you want to spend money on the Whitecap if the carp are in the pond? If you kill all the weeds won't that defeat the purpose of the grass carp? Or does some coontail still survive even with Whitecap?

I honestly don't know. Just asking.

I want to control the water lilies with the whitecap. I want the carp to control the bladderwort. I assume the white cap will kill everything the carp eat?

It should scour your pond of all vegetative life if you get the right dosage. Won't be immediate, but in my experience, some plants will die quicker than others, but they'll all die.
