One thing people must understand. Most everything done with a pond is "give and take." If you add flathead catfish, don't expect them to be selective what they eat. They eat what they can get...and they are aggressive. Define your goals, then make a plan to get there. If you are trying to rid the lake of carp, and are looking at flatheads....probably not the best choice. If you want flatheads and happen to have carp, maybe a better choice. Yet, if your ultimate goal is to have a balanced bass/bluegill fishery, then neither carp or flatheads fit the bill. In that case, stocking flatheads is a poor trade off.
Now, with that said, no one sells flathead catfish anyway. In Texas, they are considered a game fish.
