I would favor catch and release if you feel the need to remove them. I really do not imagine that they are hurting anything. My fishing experience suggests that some of the best fishing spots are full of snappers. I also have never heard of anyone being hurt by one unless they were messing with them. I personally enjoy seeing them around.
