After what seems like forever I am about to graduate and I am to the point of looking for a job. I would like to do pond or lake management but will do anything related to the field. All you professionals out there that are going to be hiring someone this summer I would be glad to talk about any positions that you may have available.

Thanks

Hopefully you'll get something in the private sector. The state jobs are under fire right now.

Best of luck!

I'm just wondering why you'd have to find anything else when you've already got this glamorous job as a Pond Boss Forum Moderator! grin

He just has a higher standard of living than we do. I get along quite nicely on my PB salary/stipend.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I've never had to fire ewest because he never uses work as an excuse not to do things Pond Boss-related (unlike others here).

Good luck Chris! I decided to switch majors at the end of my junior year because of a concern I'd never find work in a wildlife and fisheries science field. Certainly a tough field to get a foothold in... Certainly some great contacts here on the forum though. I know the Virginia Dept of Game and Inland Fisheries isn't hiring biologists, but they are hiring conservation police officers. From having volunteered with them in the past, they often use their CPO's to assist the biologists in many ways. Maybe a good way to get a foot in the door to eventually getting a biologist job or you may enjoy the law enforcement side and decide to stay... http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/law-enforcement/recruiting/

Good input CJ... My niece did pretty much the same thing, for the same reason as you, except she switched to Forensic Science. Her reasoning was, that there will always be criminals!

CJ are you considering this, or would it be too big a pay cut?

I actually fired a guy once. It was kinda hard as his younger brother was one of my Best Toolmakers. He needed a job because the co. he worked for was on strike, and no benefits were available, and he had a family. Said OK, and paid him the same wage he was getting at the union shop.

Bad mistake on my part. blush Everything that got broken or destroyed, he caused. When he took out a 15ft wide x 12ft high Industrial overhead door with the Cat Fork Truck, that was about it!

I laugh about it now, and have no ill will toward him, but it was not funny back then!

I hope he is doing OK!

I'm happy where I am. The VDGIF is a good agency though.
