I just came across one of these with 3800 hrs.,diesel, new tires/battery. The cab is open, no doors or glass. It looks and runs good. New ehoe hoses also. The loader bucket is in good shape also. He said the main backhoe cylinder has an internal leak...but it wtill works fine. The asking price was $13k, got him down to $11k. Is this something I would be able to sell for $11k after digging my pond next year?

2 or 4 wheel drive?
Any welds/cracks?
Tire condition?
1977 can be fairly old for a backhoe depending on use and regardless of hours... what has it been used for?

Even $11,000 USD seems a little high for this particular machine... for a few grand more you could likely pick up an 80-something 4wd with a full cab though likely with more hours.

(Note I recently sold my 89 JCB 1400B Turbo 4wd for $25,000 CAD which is about $17500 USD to give you an idea)

You're right Pottsy. I poked around the net for a few days and there were plenty mid '80's with 4WD and enlosed cab for the same money or a little more. Thanks for the info....
