I wonder if the weather had anything to do with it. Maybe it was too cold to find food in a tree -vs- the warmer aspects of your log house. Bugs, grubs and trees do freeze.


Could be once it's cold enough the trees which have more moisture than my logs are harder to penetrate?

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
