Once the blizzard mass that is moving quickly across the midwest is out of here, we are predicting it will leave varying amounts, from 15" - 21". Then, the wind shifts to directly out of the north and let me tell ya...it is already honkin'. When it blows that hard directly from north to south across the big pond, the land just south gets the infamous "lake effect snow". Usually that wind is blowing toward the east and southeast, burying Indiana and Michigan. If it comes straight down from the north, southern Cook County (Chicago and south) get blasted, too.
We have 30 - 40 mph constant winds right now, with gusts up to 50. It's supposed to hold all the way thru tomorrow afternoon. It is so cold that the snow is freezing as light and fluffy, not wet and heavy. We're gonna yield over 12" of snow per inch of rain. Combine this with the wind and we have the world's biggest snow globe. Then take a look at the big ice blue blob that starts in Nebraska and ends in Ohio. Whoa.
