[quote=Dave Davidson1 When I try to use it for country type stuff, it just doesn't [/quote] Hey Dave this isn't a brand observation but a people one. I don't know which is worse having a truck that can but won't or someone having a truck that should but can't! I'm sure you see this in Tx. too but down here its rampant! You meet someone with a $50-60+ k truck...all the factory off-road upgrades, thousands of $'s worth of state of the art aftermarket stuff..just a beautiful truck...so you invite them to your favorite mud hole and they look at you as if you had asked them to let you tattoo 666 on their forehead or invited his wife down to the docks to welcome the fleet home. I'll never understand it.

Most of the time I take my truck to my land and them use a 4 wheeler to get around. However I don't use a 4wheeler during deer season and the Tundra has left me walking. I need to spend some big bucks on tires to maybe help the situation.
This is my first non 4wd in 30 years.

This is my first non 4wd in 30 years. Get a Dodge 2500HD. Top speed is about 9mph in 4wd Low, Low. It is a work truck. My tailgate has a very defined pattern when a chain broke yanking out my Cat. Glad it hit the tail gait! Ever do a 4wd donut with everything locked up at about 6K... Well, Dont!!!... Your neighbors may think bad of you...

JKB, I had a Dodge 2500hd 4wd diesel. Diesels are pretty well useless in sticky mud and I couldn't keep the Dodge out of the repair shop. Just too many electronic parts under the hood. I finally traded it in for a 3/4 ton 4wd Ford with a gas engine. The Dodge was a great road truck, would pull just about anything and got about 20 mpg. I really enjoyed it when I could keep it out of the shop.
When I had less than a thousand miles on it I went sideways down a caliche mountain with a loaded 4 horse trailer. A fence at the bottom stopped me. Unloading the horses was interesting. I unhooked from the trailer, walked to the house, called a neighbor and got out my John Deere. After tearing down the rest of the fence I was able to tow the whole works up a hill to a rocky place.
My education seems to be a work in progress.

A friend of mine just got a 2010 Dodge Powerwagon. There is no better truck for off-roading. However, it's based off a 2500 platform, probably a bit too big for my needs and the 50k+ price tag is out of my price range. Very very awesome off-road features though.
