Texans are thrilled that we finally got some much needed rain. After a couple months of waiting, our new pond actually has some water in it! Yesterday I put on my Goretex jacket and pants and rubber boots and "played in the rain" for hours watching the runoff, looking at the developing erosion spots, etc. Have others ever done this? You learn a lot and its rather enjoyable if you have the right clothing. Looks like we picked up about 8 inches of depth with a 3 inch rainfall. I expect that a lot of this will get wicked into the sides since it has been so dry for so long.

I haven't ever dug a new pond before, but you can darn sure bet I'd have been out there doing exactly what you did if I was in your shoes! Congrats on the fun day with your pond!

BoyoBoy; Entertainment sure comes easy in East Texas.
Yeah, I've done it.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

This is the second pond that I built where I have done this. First time we had record breaking rainfall immediately after we closed the dam and were having an inch an hour rainfall for a good 8 hours. I watched the pond fill a couple feet that day. It was a blast but hard to keep my celebratory cigar lit!
