Last winter I had an areator going to keep the pond open using a 1/4" dia. air line. It froze up about three times and I cleared it with an injection of denatured alcohol, every time. This year I used a 1/2" dia. air line and it is now frozen. I injected about 6 ounces of alcohol in the line and it still hasn't cleared.
The pump is in a dog house size structure out near the pond and the air line runs about a foot under ground to the pond. It seems to be frozen at where it enters the ground. I was wondering if adding a heat source, like a 100 watt bulb inside the housing would help cure my problem?
