One thing to consider, is that in areas where there is a lot of water and sparse population, they will run main electrical lines directly in the bottom of the lake. I am not educated enough in this specific practice to know the variables and planning that goes into these installs, however, I have read of failures where swimmers have been electrocuted. And, while GFCI's are preventive, I would not take my chances sitting in a bathtub while someone throws in a running hairdryer. While I think your situation should be fine, I think you should do some more in depth research before letting your kids or yourself do any swimming.
