I've never been to Florida, so this is just second hand, but there are allot of guys from there on tractorbynet who talk about it.

From what I've read, teh water table is so high there that you just dig a hole and it fills up with water. I'm sure it can't be like that all over the state, but it sure seems common from what I've read. Ponds are dug out and the water just fills them up.

Since it's so wet there, what some have done is dig a pond to get material to build a pad and road for a home.

6 acres is allot of material to move, which means allot of money to get it done. They had excavators and dump trucks to move it and a dozer to spread it. Or at least that's what I remember from what I've read.
