Not sure I believe the stats on that one...

Unless the kid in the video has hands larger than mine, and a head like a melon, I am not buying 19 inches length, nor the reported weight or girth.

I ain't buying it. I measured my index finger from tip to middle of 2nd knuckle - 2 1/8" or so.

I measured the finger on the video = 1". The fish was 6.5" long on my screen as well. 6.5 x 2.125 don't = 19, not even close. Then to top it all off, I don't think the person holding the fish is that big.

I'm glad that I have my boots on. It's getting deep around here. wink

That's certainly a really big redear sunfish. Looks like a female.

Read this

I can't speculate on the actual size of the sunfish because there's too little information, but this link has some interesting commentary in regards to assumptions based for, or against, a particular size assigned to a photographed fish.

Right. Cough. Bul$#!>. Cough. smile

Screen capture has pixel width of fish at 288 pixels. His right index finger is 44 pixels from his interphalangeal joint, or 15% of the fish length. If the fish was 19", his finger shown would be 2.9". I'm 6', wear medium gloves, and my distance is 1.75". It's a nice fish, maybe 11-12", but nowhere near 19" long.

Oh yeah, and then there's "common sense" that says you're probably not going to beat the world record by almost 20% in weight... or thats about 4" longer than any other state record.

Or that a 10 year old isn't going to hold 7 lbs like that.. and and and.. nice trolling 19inbream.

This is a "real" big redear, and a real trophy body condition:

p.s. - missed ya'll.

Aaron, nice fish from your place!

I'm guessing 10" on the fish in the video considering the finger size. Benefit of the doubt = 12", but after seeing the BG that we seined from Cecil's pond yesterday there's no way it's anywhere near what's claimed.

Aren't pixels the little dots that make up a picture or a photo? As in "megapixels"?
