Thanks, Brettski. I feel the same and don't want to involve more government oversight unless I have to. At this point I have mixed feelings about my decision to involve NRCS. My guess is that the local office isn't too concerned about wetlands (this area is mostly thousands of acres of undeveloped timberland) but that the soils guy was from the state office and wants to play by the book. I may be wrong, but that's an impression.
On her first visit the NRCS lady did have a much more current aerial photo. I asked her if we could get a copy and she said she couldn't give me one but I could contact the state office and see if they would let me have one. At this point I'm not raising my hand for any more attention from the state office.
