I believe the strips are called laminating. Some states require a wider jaw contact point, or padded jaws. Indiana does, but only on certain sized traps. If you have a chance to talk to him, ask him about reading material.

I don't know if it was a coyote or a dog, but the back food plot had a canine track that was 2 3/4" wide - packed sand was what the footprint was in.
