Welcome to the forum Han....nevermind laugh

You say you've got a leaker? Any idea where the leak originates or are there wet areas behind the dam?

I do indeed have a leak that appears to be through a section of the dam (maybe 20'W x 100'L)Only leaks when the pond is full. I had this 3/4 A(surface area)pond built 22 years ago & it has leaked in the same spot from the start. My suspicion is that the builder either improperly cored the dam or perhaps didn't core it at all! There was no rock, silt, or sand to deal with, only lots of clay for the basin & plenty of black dirt to work with. I'm at a loss as to what i should try to fix this leak. I've tried sodium bentonite years ago to no avail. Should mention the pond is leaking through the back side of the dam. Would greatly appreciate any input!

Leak seems to be where the top of the green vegetation is growing on the left half of pond................

Have someone that installs ponds come and look at it..Sounds to me the dam needs to excavated and needs to be re-packed with clay or new-dirt in the area..I'm no expert by any means but I just had my pond fixed where it leaked at the dam by way of running out around the overflow pipe..If you find the right contractor my guess is he would have you back up in no time...JMO

Thanks Snide, I'd like to think I could get by without doing a lot of dirt work, but I'm probably kidding myself...... Although the leak isn't that bad, I'm reluctant to try any of the "miracle cures" out there........

If you have a source of good clay in, or near your pond, the face of the dam can be re-compacted without a complete rebuild.

Handsome,

I am currently working with a company called AquaBlok for a leaky dam solution. Check out their product called PONDSEAL. Their website is www.aquablokinfo.com or you can call their product manager Erik Kraus at (419)385-2980. He is really helpful. If you call him, tell him that Blaine sent you.
