Travis, the first time I put mine out I got nothing. Just pushing the on button won't work - you HAVE to hold it down until the lights turn on.

I got 4 days out of mine with the upgrages, only saw deer movement the evening of the 2nd day for maybe 4 minutes real time.

I'm going to set it up on a different spot this evening. Our bow season opened today, and the wind is just right to mess up my stands here at the house. The only wind that I cannot hunt is a NW wind, and that's what it's doing.

Dave, if by the green stuff, you're referring to what is growing in the field, it's soybeans...

If it lasted longer the camera would be awesome... But with that short a battery life, wow! I tried reformatting the USB memory stick as well, so I hope this will help as well.

I talked to them today. You should give them a call. There is a specific thumb drive that takes less power to run, Sandisk I belive and there is a way to hook it up to a 6 volt lantern battery to increase the life. I was told it will run a 16 gig and possible a 32 gig thumb drive.

It's sitting at a buddy's house for a few days to see what's happening in his food plots.

I've always wondered why heavy voltage draw cameras can't be run off of an automotive battery.

It all depends on what voltage they were set up to run on. There are solar array and larger battery systems for them.

Last evening, I saw that tall-racked buck that I posted earlier. I could not get a shot off because he turned unexpectedly. I did not want to draw back when he was looking in my direction (less than 20 yards). The good news was that he did not detect me. He looked bigger in person.

Thanks for the info Scott... I'll give them a call and see what they have to say. They don't seem to be a big company yet, like Moultrie or Stealthcam. Calling their customer service is like pounding your head off a wall...

It's worse than that. It took StealthCam 3 tries to get my camera fixed, and every time it was sent to the back of the line. You'd think that they would do a QC on a camera that left the shop, and when it was recieved by the customer and it didn't work, they'd hop to fixing it when it returned to the shop.

It took over 2 months to get the camera fixed.....

Really wish that I had taken the old wide one when I had him close (picture posted earlier in this thread), but I thought this one was bigger than it turned out. I should have held off, but it was the 3rd time that he came into range. The G2's are 11" on one side and a little less on the other. The asymetry and narrow spread will kill the scoring, but still it is a nice bow deer. I am hunting does now. The new bow paid off since it extended my range to 30 yards, and this guy was at 27 yards. He came to one of our wetland once to often. I passed on a reasonable 10-pt earlier, but he will be real nice next year if he makes it. The habitat development has really paid off. Lots of medium and small bucks on our place this year. A couple will be real nice next year. If you have taken mature 10s, your doing great. I got a 148 in 2008 with a bow at 15 feet. Its my best one so far.

RAH, congrats on the nice deer! I've only seen does here, and all have been out of range. I think they will be moving a bit more now that the weather is starting to cool down.

I'm seeing more coyotes on the trail cams, gotta start hunting and trapping them.

The cam is about 15' from the South edge of the pond, facing an apple tree that is in the Oat/Oil seed radish food plot.

The mass on that 8 point is impressive! Very nice buck!

My dad is a trapping nut... He'd gladly come hurt your coyote population. HAHA

I've got free room and board if your dad wants to make a trip out this way. I might be able to get permission for him to trap on a 3,000 acre farm as well.

In any case, does he have any suggested reading material on trapping 'yotes? I think I might have some underspring and coil spring traps that are big enough for 'yotes, and they have a nice light rust coating on them - ready for dye and wax.

He's crazy enough, he just might take you up on the trapping in Indiana offer! I'll run it by him and see. I know he's spending two weeks at our cabin in PA to run a trap line up there and is already trapping on about 2,000 acres of farm land around his house in VA. He just redid almost all his traps, not sure what all he did as I am not really into it. I know it involves welding metal strips to the jaws to increase the holding power, bigger springs and more swivels... I think he enjoys trapping more than hunting these days.

I believe the strips are called laminating. Some states require a wider jaw contact point, or padded jaws. Indiana does, but only on certain sized traps. If you have a chance to talk to him, ask him about reading material.

I don't know if it was a coyote or a dog, but the back food plot had a canine track that was 2 3/4" wide - packed sand was what the footprint was in.

Interesting to see the coyotes. My game cameras have captured lots of wild, feral, and domestic critters -- both furry and feathered, and at all hours of the day and night. When I had it near the driveway, I even got photos of UPS and FEDEX trucks.

I've been putting game cameras out for about 8-10 years at this point. I've yet to get photos of a bear or a coyote, and I'm not sure why. I very rarely see them, but I see evidence of them regularly.

I think coyote numbers boomed a few years back in our area, they're numbers have dropped a bit lately. Bear numbers are still growing. It is surprising you've never gotten either on camera. Not sure why you wouldn't...

Last year was the first year that I had one on camera. There was a guy locally that trapped the wee outta them, but he quit trapping about 3 years ago. The population has skyrocketed since then. I've gotten 4 or 5 on camera the past month, plus at least 10 dogs, I'd say about 7 or 8 different dogs. Most without a collar.....

As a landowner, on my property they can be eliminated by any means, at any time of the year, and as a landowner I can give written permission for someone to do the same. I won't use poison tho.

They allow guys to use dogs to hunt deer where my dad lives. The hunters often don't care much about their deer hounds and will lose track of them just let them run loose. When my dad catches them while coyote trapping or we see them while hunting, it is definitely tempting to shoot them as they are often starved and doing nothing but causing problems.

Got this interesting buck on camera for the first time.... I think he was probably struck by a car or had some other traumatic injury to the pedicle causing the double 12"+ spikes to form on the right side. It appears, that after the original photo was taken of him on the 5th, he unfortunately broke off one of the spikes so when he was photographed on the 16th, he had just 1 spike on the right. He'd still make a cool trophy mount though but the double spike would have been really cool.

RAH only 3 of the 10's were once i should have killed. Two of em
and biggest 141" are bow kills.

wyatt and I slept in a tent in the backyard (gotta break him in slow)and he did great. Reason I bring it up man the coyotes wee howlgin almost all night. I heard them at least three diff locations. I knew we had them close but not in the mass numbers it appeared last night.

CJ, that's a cool looking buck.

I shot one like that about 10 years ago. I thought it was hit by a car, but I didn't find any broken bones when I butchered it.
