Went to the family hunting land in PA yesterday and checked my game cameras up there. The area gets very heavy hunting pressure so we don't get many nice bucks, so I was happy to get a couple decent ones on camera. Including the one I previously posted on here in velvet. He ended up being a nice 9 point... Here they are!

Agree Nate. I've seen one bear in my life. Those guys are loaded with them.

15 years ago, just seeing bear sign was rare... Now, they just destroy everything. All our peach trees are demolished. Our mulberry trees have their branches bent or broken, even the Chinese chestnuts and apples trees take a beating by the bears. They are a real PITA. I'd rather have wild hogs than bears! Their strength is amazing and when it comes to food, they will destroy anything to get to it... But with all the bears we have running around, I have only seen 2 while hunting and a handful other times. The bear firearms season is only 3 days long, you can't bait and you can't use dogs. Makes hunting them very tough!

Actually, the TPWD are tracking bear sightings that are moving in from Arkansas and Louisiana. There is a pretty heavy fine for shooting one.

The deer is nice, but the land with all those evergreens looks stinkin amazing! That is my dream habitat right there.

Me neither, that's why I stick to the old way. In my case, change isn't for the better.

n8ly - It took hand planting over 20,000 trees and 20 years, but its still a work in progress. I am excited about the start of bow season on Friday!

Did you buy the trees or was it through DNR? I need something like the on my land I'm in the middle of a 20 acre pasture w/3.5 acre lake

We purchased them from commercial suppliers, planted them 5' apart in rows 10' apart, and sold many of them for landscaping and Christmas trees over the years and then left the rest grow. This will be our last year selling trees retail from a small block near our house. The cover has really improved the quality of bucks.

PS- I'm ready for bow season also, although I haven't even shot my bow

That's a great photo getting 4 bears CJ, it appears that most of the Northeastern states have too many and they do alot of damage when they want something.
Our Bear season is 6 weeks not counting Bow & Muzzleloading, and there are still too many. I think most of the hunters are after deer and even if a bear wanders by it's too much trouble to shoot and drag out of the woods. I see bears when I'm hunting just about every year.

Bears aren't quite that common in my part of PA yet, but another few years that is gonna change... They are getting more and more common each year and causing more and more damage!

Wow did I get soaked today, but I hung 6 tree stands and 6 game cameras with my dad today. Not ideal conditions for that, but it did make things good for scent control and not spooking the deer. So, I didn't die slipping out of a tree stand so that was a good thing... Only had 3 cameras out including my new Plotwatcher camera. Got a few photos of a decent 8 point:





Not a bad start for this new property... Now have 4 cameras on it, so hopefully I will confirm my suspicions and get a few bigger bucks on camera.

I also got my first results from the PlotWatcher. I was a bit disappointed. I only got 1 and half days worth of time lapse video out of it... Not sure what happened since it was supposed to go a minimum of 6 days. However, I did everything the company said to do to get a longer life. I used a recommended high end memory stick with power boost, used lithium batteries, downloaded the software update for it and set it to only take pictures in the mornings and evenings. With all of that, only 1 and half days of pics! I set it back up again, so we will see if it was just a glitch. I sure hope so or the thing is about worthless...

The Game Finder software it comes with is very nice and makes editing and viewing the pics it takes easy. I sure hope the 1 and half day issue was just a one time deal.
