During the hot weather (in our ponds) many LMB feed more at night than in the day. I have caught lots of LMB at night. We will go to the oxbow lakes and find the shad by noise (sit in the boat and listen for the LMB top water strikes). Then we will turn on a light to illuminate them and the LMB will attack. We will cast a top water bait in there and the fun starts. Never fished for LMB with live or cut bait at night.
