Would a fountain type aerator stir up polluted sediments in a pond about 4 feet deep?

An upside down fountain..  Fountains are surface aerators, even bottom draw systems. A lot of weighted down soaker hose in long runs and a regererative blower will churn the bottom sediments. A regen blower will move a bunch of air at a 4 foot depth. What is the pollutant?

I dunno. Probably industrial wastes and runoff accumulated in the sediments.

Sure it could, depending on the type of fountain it is. Is it a can motor with a prop? Vertical or horizontal motor configuration? Does it have an intake tube located right above the pond bottom? How much flow / pumpage are you looking at? What kind of sediments are on the bottom of the pond? Most manufacturers have a depth rating on their equipment or the overall height which determines the depth of the pond that equipment is intended for. Start with that and work backwards, should give you something to go with.
