I tried searching but no luck. A few questions that I could use assistance with...
1. I have access to 3 4 foot long concrete culverts. I figure to just roll them in from the edge of the water. Should one end be plugged?

2. I'll soon have over 150 CC in the pond which is fed daily. Is there a good round figure on the number of caves I should install? Initially, I plan to wire two 5 gallon buckes together at the mouth and cut a hole in one end. Attach it to a concrete block and install around the edge.

I did some research a few years ago, and I'm glad that I didn't put any in the pond given the problems that I'm having catching the ones in the pond now.

IIRC, they should be closed on one end, large enough so a CC can enter and turn around in them. They should be placed in 3'-4' water depth with the open end facing deeper water.

I have seen/heard of the following as being used:
old large metal milk cans
two 5 gal buckets wired together with the end cut out of one to make a longer tube.
55 gal drums with a hole cut in one end.
Clay field tiles

I am getting ready to add water to my new pond and need to add some structure first. The pond will be stocked with LMB. BG, RES, and CC. I planned to buy 100 of the 8" cinder/ concrete blocks and make 2-3 jumbled rock piles in the pond. Do I have to worry about the CC pawning in the concrete block cavities? The pond will average 12' indepth and the deepest part will be about 14'.

I have started building the CC Caves using 2 5 gal buckets attached together with a large round hole in one end. I also drilled several hole all around to release any trapped air. Should I place gravel / rocks in the buckets or just place then as is with an anchor?
