If your water level is pretty stable, I'd go fixed dock. If it fluctuates consider a floating dock. If you have kids swimming etc also a floating dock is the way to go allowing easier exit from the water. Anything with a 8x12 deck or better, as long as you're not cutting corners on the floats, will be plenty stable in my experience.
