i have a few questions
how could you manage black crappie in a 3/4 acre pond?
the pond already has a good bluegill population as well as small 6-8 inch bass
i am thinking of stocking 2-3 inch crappie in the fall would a
6-8 inch bass be able to eat them
if so how many should i stock
north mississippi 3 acre, 1.5 acre, 1.2 acre, .75 acre, .3 acre, two .25 acre

Very intensive fishing - I'm pretty sure the consensus is that they aren't recommended for ponds under 5 acres in size because of the management problems that they cause.

A 8" LMB might eat a 2" crappie, but they'd prefer a BG of the same size. 3" might be getting too big for an 8" LMB.

This may not be the answer that you want, but my final answer is that you should stock zero.

Search for crappie in the search function on here or using Google. There is a plethora of info on them in smaller ponds. To say the least, they are quite the challenge to manage. For the short term, they may work out... However, over the long run you'll probably end up with a mess. There are a few things you can do to try to prevent that though. However, the recommendation you already received is the wisest... Don't stock them!

I know against my better judgment I plan to stock some either this fall or early spring. We have a pond that needs to be fixed anyway so I may try to put some in just to see what happens.
My dilemma is where do I want to get my stock from:
1. A fish farm that is close by
2. Locate someone that sells the hybrids
3. Try to source all males from local BOW
Anyone have suggestions on this?
I figure if they ruin the pond it will give us more of a reason to drain and repair.
This same pond produced crappie over a pound one after another 15 years ago, it has since seen better days and I believe they are all but gone.
What I am wondering is if you leave out structure for them to spawn would they still find a way (like Bullheads that just need to be wet)?
Either way if I do go this route I will be sure to start a post and keep everyone informed if they are interested.

Well depending on how everything else pans out this year I may try to stock some, unless the water tests and other issues pose a problem.
Just depends if I can locate any or not to stock.
