It appears i have a mild case of blue green algae, I went to take pics today after swimming in it yesterday and it seems to be gone... We have mild winds today and had no wind yesterday. I also only have a water clarity of 12", i think due to my soil composition. It is a darker ice tea colored water.
After reading some things about this algae it has me wondering if My Dog and I should have been swimming in the pond. The algae was not in large mats or anything, but you could see it suspended in the water, as we swam more i created some swirls on the top of the surface and when trying to catch it with the pool skimmer it all broke up and spread out.
Could i have caused this? I gave my dog a bath in here with shampoo could that have caused an elevated phosphorus level, thus creating the algae bloom?
Please help out this confused newbie!

Chad, if you haven't felt any effects from the swimming in it yet, you're probably fine. However, probably wouldn't do it again until it's gone. Definitely wouldn't let the dog swim in it since he doesn't know any better than to drink it as well. I'm certainly not an expert either, but from everything I've researched, small doses of blue green algae are typically not harmful, but if they are it usually shows up early after exposure.

I have not seen it since that original day. I have not gotten sick, i guess i will keep an eye on it a go from there.
What is the best product to clean up water clarity?
